I am a lecturer in statistics and data science at the University of Edinburgh. Before that, I was a lecturer at University College London. Most of my research centres around the application of statistical and machine learning methods for predicting time series and point processes. Specific interests include:

  • Detection of abrupt changes/anomalies in time series
  • Bayesian statistics, particularly nonparametric methods
  • Risk analysis, including financial markets and earthquake forecasting
  • Retail analytics
  • Cyber security
If you are interested in studying for a PhD in any of these areas then please send me your CV and 1-2 paragraphs summarising your research interests, and whether you have a source of funding. If you do not have funding then potential sources include University of Edinburgh departmental scholarships and our CDT for Data Science.
